Andrea Phillips grew up in a military family and so is a native of nowhere in particular; she spent most of her childhood moving up and down the East Coast. After earning her bachelor's degree from Texas Christian University in a completely unrelated field, Andrea began ministry working at Christian summer camps and conference centers. During her 6 years in camping ministry, she designed and facilitated educational, recreational, and team-building programs for both children and adults. Also during that time, Andrea developed a passion for ministry that led her out of camping and into seminary. |

While attending Dallas Theological Seminary, Andrea began working in the recognition and promotion industry designing marketing and communication materials, developing corporate brands, and selling promotional products. The experience in the secular marketplace allowed her to practice the life of personal ministry about which she teaches. Andrea completed her master's degree at DTS in 1999. She continued to work in the business world while serving as a lay person in her local church. In 2003, the Lord led her to John Brown University, a Christian university in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, where she used her business experience to serve the school as the Director of University Communications. Even in this position, she continued to pursue her passion for equipping believers to be all that God designed them to be. Desiring to become a college professor (and so combine her God-given talents, experience, and passions), Andrea returned to TCU to get a master's degree in PR/Advertising and is now pursuing a PhD at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. While completing her studies, she is working as an adjunct instructor and research assistant at Tech and running her own promotional products company, FTF Marketing Communications. Andrea believes that when Christians come to really believe in the God of the Bible, to trust Him and His word, we gain the confidence necessary to make ministry a normal part of our lives. What's more, at that point, we fulfill our created purpose and begin to experience abundant life! Andrea encourages believers to love God completely, use His Word effectively, and serve Him wholeheartedly in whatever station of life they find themselves. Andrea lives in Lubbock, Texas, with her shy but adorable cat, Phoebe, and her enthusiastic dog, Dexter (who was named after a Cary Grant character, not the TV serial killer). In her spare time she enjoys camping and outdoor activities, swing dancing, snow skiing, playing guitar, home crafts, playing games with friends, entertaining, being wherever people are, and trying just about anything new. |
